Periyar hotel

If you really want to enjoy the local dishes (river fish), then it is worth visiting the Periyar hotel located near Varapuzha bridge. They have two outlets. One inside the Blue bazaar shopping village and another one immediately after that (Old one, facing pariyar river). While coming from Edappally or Ernakulam sie, it is on the right side, just before the Varapuzha bridge.

Toddy @Kadamakkudy

Kadamakkudy has two toddy shops. The well known among these two toddy shops is at the fag end of the Kadamakkudy central road, near the temple. I visited this toddy shop once and on that day we had good prawns curry, Kakka ularthiyathu. The food at Kerala toddy shops (Shappu curry) are spicy and delicious. The photograph shown above is the toddy shop at Ferry road Varapuzha, which is on the way to Varapuzha.

Mullappanthal at Thripunithura is a very well known toddy shop which serves a wide range of shappu curry.
